Stages

Stage 1 (January 2011)

Stage 1 will consist of a small open-topic one page website demonstrating that the participant has sufficient skills to enter Stage 2.

All of the websites entered into Stage 1 will be reviewed by the competition’s administration and will be approved or denied for entry into Stage 2. Any denials will be returned to the sender describing why it was not approved.

Stage 2 (February 2011)

An information package will be given to all of the Stage 2 participants.

Websites will be judged in 5 categories:

  1. Code (15 points):
    1. W3C Validated HTML and CSS
    2. Neatly Organized
  2. Design (15 points):
    1. Originality
    2. Appropriate for subject
  3. Accessibility (5 points)
  4. Closeness to topic (10 points)
  5. Extra points for outstanding originality/creativity (up to 5 points):
    1. HTML 5 and CSS 3

Total: 45 points

The top 5-10 highest scoring websites will enter Stage 3 of the competition.

Stage 3 (TBD)

Stage 3 will be a virtual event. It is here that the judges will present the 3 winners and explain why they chose them.

Keep in mind that the finalists of this competition will have demonstrated that they are ready to enter the industry. Prizes will be distributed and possibly a short speech from a judge or sponsor will be given.
